HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR BOUDOIR SHOOT
So many ladies get super nervous before their boudoir session. They have no idea what to expect! But if you know how to prepare for a boudoir shoot, that can help ease a lot of your anxiety. Preparing well ahead of your shoot will help you feel confident and relaxed, and allow you to get the most out of your boudoir experience.
GET INSPIRED
If you have no idea where to start, get inspired by checking out previous pictures we have posted or even check out Pinterest for some ideas. You can take a look at our photos on Instagram or join our ladies only VIP group to see our previous work and also be a part of a wonderful group. You can also go over to Pinterest and start a board where you can save your favorite outfits, hair and makeup styles, and any poses you want to try.
YOUR HAIR
On the day of your boudoir shoot, you will have that luxury experience of getting your hair and makeup done to ensure you look your very best. My hair and makeup artist is experienced and will work with you to create your desired look, while keeping in mind my lighting and retouching process as she also is a photographer as well.
You can also schedule an appointment before your session at your salon to touch up your color, take care of dead ends or just to ensure your hair is looking healthy and happy. We don’t recommend doing anything severe, as we want you to still feel you when you come in.
YOUR SKIN
Our Hair and Makeup artist is part of your boudoir experience and our artist will collaborate with you to choose the perfect colors and styles. But there’s still lots you can do before your shoot to prep your skin.
- Exfoliate & cleanse: Stick to or start a skin exfoliation and cleansing routine leading up to your boudoir shoot. Don’t forget to exfoliate the rest of your body, not just your face!
- Drink water & eat well: The best way to achieve healthy, bright skin is to drinks lots of water and eat nutritious foods.
- Remove any unwanted body hair: Before your shoot, remove any unwanted body hair by shaving, waxing, threading or trimming.
- Get your nails done: Go for your manicure and pedicure a few days before your shoot, choosing colours that will match all of your outfits. For a neutral look, opt for a French tip or pastel hue.
YOUR OUTFITS
The outfits you choose for your boudoir session are so important and should represent the style and feel you’re going for. We also do recommend you going outside of your box just a little bit if you are wanting to pull a side of you that is buried deep down. If there’s an area of your body you want to highlight or would prefer to cover, your outfit can help you do that.
In our Beauty and Lounge room we do have some props you are more than welcome to use and you are also more than welcome to bring your own. Alot of ladies do like to incorporate their husbands favorite sport jersey or even their workshirt. Some ladies like to do off the shoulder with panties. We can also hide areas with the sheet or in different poses as well.
We do have our client closet that you are more than welcome to use and we have videos of sizes and what we offer in our ladies only group pinned to the top on Facebook if you want to check those out. We also are partnered with our local Adam & Eve store here in Wichita Falls, Texas, so if you go in and let them know you have an upcoming session with us, you can get a discount on your purchase.
Not sure what to wear? You are more than welcome to contact me, so I can go over ideas and what you may be wanting. Also, we do have a Boudoir guide as well that I can send over. Make sure you do try on all of your outfits ahead of time so everything fits just right.
24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION
By this point, your outfits should be selected and all of your beauty appointments (hair, mani/pedi, wax/thread) should be completed.
Pack up your outfits, jewelry, shoes and any other accessories or props you want incorporated in your boudoir shoot so they’re ready to go.
The night before your boudoir shoot, gently exfoliate your face and body. Get a good night’s sleep so you don’t wake up with bags under your eyes!
On the morning of your session, wash and dry your hair, and cleanse and moisturize your face. Make sure to wear lose clothes to the studio, to prevent indintions in the skin. You are more than welcome to also change into one of our many robes while you get pampered with your Hair and Makeup! Make sure to eat you a breakfast, drink lots of water and get prepared to have an amazing time!
WE KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO BE NERVOUS
We have went over everything that you can do physically, so now lets talk about mentally preparing.
It is completely okay to come to your boudoir session nervous and unsure. My job is to bring out your inner model, teach you how to pose and help you fall in love with your own beauty. All you have to do is want it enough to show up.
The moment you come in, you will be greeted by me, Rachel your photographer and of course Chaela our Hair and Makeup Artist. There will be relaxing, fun sexy music playing in the background and we will all just sit and chit chat. There will be drinks and snacks for you either before or if you want to wait till after to eat. I will ask questions, get to know you a little better and even share what is ahead.
I love to treat all my clients as if we have been friends forever and don’t you worry about any quiet awkward time, because I will make sure we are all laughing and having a good time!
You got this girly!!!
