Rachel’s life | Colorado Day 1 & 2

It has been a crazy past month!  There were definitely a lot of highs and lows.  My husband suggested for me to enjoy the holidays and take time off of my business and also from my daily job.  I decided to rest and “relax” which is hard for me to do, considering I am a go-go-go type of person.

When I first was off at the beginning of the month, I had to play catch up with gifts, get the house ready for Christmas, have our annual Christmas party and start preparing for our anniversary trip.  We decided to go to Colorado this time because my husband loves it and we love snow.  We met this sweet couple at a wedding that I photographed and we just all clicked.  We became friends and they invited us to their Airbnb in Colorado which was so cozy and comfy.  We had 2 solid days there and 2 for travelling, so 4 total days.

I drove the whole way there (husband drove back) and we stopped along the way to sight see and also visit come places.  We arrived and went to dinner with Andrea who was our Airbnb host and she showed us around some fun upbeat area to eat and hang out.  The next morning I woke up sick and it took me a couple of hours to get going.  The altitude there is way higher than ours and it was hard to adjust for me.  We are in the 900’s and they are in the 6000’s.

The first day was our fun day.  We went through Evergreen and had lunch, which was amazing! We traveled through to get to Winter Park and the mountains were gorgeous.  I have pictures that I took while we were driving below so you can get an idea of what we saw.

When we got to our location it was absolutely gorgeous.  The sun was shining, the air was cold and crisp and there was snow everywhere.  My husband and I decided to go tubing!  Since I didn’t feel good and it was a short trip, we really wanted to go skiing, but we knew that was going to take all day and so we decided to still play in the snow and go tubing!  I have to say that it was scarier at first that I thought.  To get my hefty butt on this tube and go down was scary because I just knew I was going to hit a bump and go head first into the snow at 100 miles an hour.  I exaggerated a little bit, but it does feel like that esp when you get turned going backwards.

When we would get to the bottom, I laughed and laughed so hard every single time.  I have no idea what was so funny, but I really think it was just the thrill and feeling like a 10 year old.  One thing I do have to say that I love and adore about my husband is we are 2 kids together and then when its time for responsibility and making adult decisions we can completely go into adult mode.

When we left the sun started to go down fast.  You have to remember these mountains are so high and it don’t take much for the sun to go down and get dark behind them, which by the way we wernt used too.  I had to get the mountain shots to remember with, so we stopped on the side of the mountain and took some.  It just so happens the place we stopped was 18 degrees.  We were super cold and adoring the mountains.

We drove through and decided to have dinner in Georgetown, south of Winter Park.  With this trip, we didn’t want a schedule, we wanted to relax and just see what we stumbled across.  Colorado is so beautiful and there is so much to see and so many different attractions.

I do have to say the people were so nice in Colorado and the scenery was so beautiful.  We definitely want to go back soon, but we think we may have another place we want to visit on our next trip!!  I will post this and share with you our second day in the next blog.
