We all start somewhere with EVERYTHING!  Every time we start something new it takes awhile to get in the groove, to learn the ends and outs and also to get to where we want to be.  Now don’t get me wrong, I do hope with my business to always grow and to never be exactly where I want to be, because even with Photography it’s always evolving.

When I started 11 years ago, I had no clue what I was doing but my passion was strong.  I wanted to mimic the artistic views of all the pictures I saw and I honestly thought, “That cant be too hard.”  Little did I know, I really didn’t know anything, but I never gave up!  There were times where I would get discouraged or couldn’t execute what I had visioned or I found it hard to book people even when offered for free. I knew that photography cost alot of money and so I went with the cheapest of everything which clearly showed in my work.  Another thing of why I wouldn’t invest in it, was because I was scared.  I am a person who loves her little bubble and is scared of failure or rejection.

When I got married a couple of years ago and that passion overflowed my heart, I sat down and talked with Joseph and told him of my dreams and my fears.  I knew what I wanted and where I wanted my business to go (still do) and I didn’t want us to get in a financial bind to try and get there.  I remember offering a ton of free sessions before I even bought my new camera (my camera was over 10 years old) and I was so excited, but it just wasn’t happening.  The camera clearly showed the age of pictures and another thing that I didn’t know how to do was edit pictures.

In the past couple of years I have tried to be committed no matter what lifes bumps came my way into my passion, which is photography!  I am honestly proud of myself for not giving up, trying to find my style and to be smart when it comes to business choices.  My husband will be graduating college very soon and our goals is for me to do photography full time and I have so many ideas and dreams of what I want to focus on my business and where I want it to go.  Right now I do photography part time and balance life, which is fine, but I cannot wait for that time where I can put more time and focus into my craft.

So the first 12 pictures below, I had to dig hard for these because honestly that was 3 laptops ago. I was very proud of these pictures and I still don’t hate them, but times have changed and as of now, things def are better!  I definitely had some rough spots and as a photographer who has gone through some classes now can see all the mistakes, but I have heard every photographer say the same thing about themselves and so it bring me peace.
